Shamitabh Trailer Review: The Intriguing Promo Of Shamitabh Ft. Amitabh & Dhanush Leaves Us Wanting For More

Filmmaker R. Balki's next looks promising, and the film's trailer that released recently has left us enraptured! Starring the megastar Amitabh Bachchan and the South sensation Dhanush in lead roles, Shamitabh has been written and directed by Balki. The director and Big B's jodi has stormed the silver screen twice previously – with Cheeni Kum and Paa. Quite obviously, movie-buffs are very excited and curious with the duo's coming together for the third time. And going by the official trailer of Shamitabh, looks like, the successful team is once again all set to stun us.

The film's title had always intrigued us right since the time it had been announced. It is only now that we have been informed that the first two letters in Shamitabh are actually the last two letters of Dhanush's name, followed by Amitabh Bachchan's first name. Hmmm… interesting! But what significance does that hold in the film, and why did the makers choose this movie title? Fact is, no matter how hard we try to figure that out through the film's trailer, we end up with no clues in our hands. Balki has built his promo in a way that it certainly piques our curiosity about the film's plot, but very cleverly, keeps the Shamitabh storyline under wraps!

The trailer begins with various shots, featuring Dhanush in a bindaas avatar. He looks a film-inspired fellow, who does it all to grab the eyeballs and spotlight – from dancing to romancing! While he flaunts his stylish, quirky screen-self, enters Amitabh, mouthing the line, 'Shamitabh… main bhi hoon.' White hair and beard-moustache suit the superstar so much that he instantly owns the screen! His aura is such that we are bowled over in no time! The powerhouse performer seems to have worked on his voice, as he sounds different in the trailer of Shamitabh.

If we have to guess what Shamitabh could be about, it appears that Amitabh and Dhunush's characters are pitted against each other – but not in a 'bad versus good' way; the duo seem to be in a chase to prove themselves as a bigger star than the other. We like the humour with which the two try to outdo the other.

Veteran actor Kamal Haasan's younger daughter, Akshara Haasan, debuts in Hindi films with Shamitabh. The girl looks cute in short hair.

The film's trailer has received an overwhelming response for all the above reasons, and is expected release to packed cinema halls.

P. C. Sreeram seems to have done a fabulous job with the film's cinematography. Also starring Rekha (yes, you read that right!), Shamitabh will see a number of cameo appearances, including filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt, Rohit Shetty, Karan Johar, Anurag Basu, Rajkumar Hirani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Gauri Shinde, Javed Akhtar, Boney Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.

Shamitabh Release Date: Shamitabh will open in cinema halls on 6th February 2015.
