10 Bollywood Movies to Look Forward to in Next Quarter of 2015

Contributed By: Charu A. Mahesh

Dibaker Banerjee’s Byomkesh Bakshy starring Sushant Singh Rajput seems to have broken the spell of bad luck, that was hovering over Bollywood for quite some time. While the suspense thriller is enjoying a good run at the theatres we just hope the good Fridays continue to please Bollywood in the coming months too. So, here’s a list of 10 films that you can put your money on in the next quarter of 2015…

1. Broken Horses

When the Prime Minister of your country wishes luck to a movie, it ought to be on your must-watch list. Yes, PM Narendra Modi wished director Vidhu Vinod Chopra for his first Hollywood movie, which he has co-written with Abhijat Joshi. The film is a thriller about the bonds of brotherhood, laws of loyalty and futility of violence. Starring Vincent D’Onofrio, Anton Yelchin, Chris Marquette and Maria Valverde, The Broken Horses is all set to release on April 10, 2015.

2. Margarita, with a Straw

She might not be the Deepika Padukone of Bollywood, but Kalki Koechlin has carved a niche for herself with her off beat yet impressive choice of films – be it Shanghai, The Girl in Yellow Boots or the mainstream, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Her upcoming film, Margarita, With a Straw has been a festival favourite world over and we are already waiting for it. Not a commercial pot boiler, the film is a sensitive story of Laila Laila, who suffers from cerebral palsy. A slice of life film wherein Laila embarks on a journey to seek love and acceptance, Margarita, With a Straw is one of those very few Bollywood films that strengthen your belief in the fact that ‘content is the king.’

 3. Phir Se…

Only reason why I want to watch Phir Se, directed by Kunal Kohli Ajay Bhuyan is because Kunal is not only directing but also playing the protagonist in the film. Trust me, the man is looking hot! Starring Jennifer Winget, Phir Se (Watch Phir Se trailer here) is a love story of two people who have had failed marriages in the past. All about the second chance and complexities of relationships, this one looks like a fine piece of cinema.  And of course, Kunal-Jennifer chemistry is there to keep you hooked!

 4. Gabbar is Back

Starring Akshay Kumar, Gabbar is Back has been making the right kind of noise for the last few days. ‘Villains’ are the new heroes is the mantra of the makers of the film, wherein Gabbar is a hero all set to fight against corruption. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan in a cameo, who is looking a million bucks in the first look. So, how many likes for Gabbar?

5. Piku

Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Irrfan Khan and Moushmi Chatterjee! Do you need any more reasons to watch this movie? The trailer of Piku has already won quite some fans already and we are expecting this story of Bengali grumpy man and his daughter to be a winner all the way!

 6. Bombay Velvet

Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, Bombay Velvet has piqued our interest levels ever since we saw the Bombay Velvet trailer. Read our review of Bombay Velvet trailer, here. Though Anurag Kashyap and Ranbir Kapoor combo is not to be missed after their Barfi act, but we are looking forward to this movie for Karan Johar, who is all set to play a suave baddie in the film.

 7. Tanu Weds Manu Returns

If you enjoyed the first movie, you can stay assured of double fun in the sequel of Tanu weds Manu, when Tanu’s judwaa behen (twin) Datto enters the scene! The story of Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) and Manu (R.Madhavan) is all set to turn into a roller coaster ride as Kangana plays a double role in Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

 8. Dil Dhadakne Do

I have been closely following what’s happening on Dil Dhadakne Do ever since we saw Zoya’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. With a casting coup in place, the film looks uber cool and is on our must-watch list this year. The first look of Ranveer Singh as Kabir Mehra was released recently and was quite drool worthy, I must say!

 9. Hamari Adhuri Kahaani

This film an important one. Not just for Bollywood but also for Vidya Balan, who’s last two releases Bobby Jasoos and Shadi Ke Side Effects tanked miserably at the Box Office. This movie starring Emran Hashmi is going to decide Vidya’s fate in Bollywood.

 10. ABCD2

The first part of the film, ABCD – Any Body Can Dance was lapped up by dance fanatics across India despite the absence of any big star. Result? Choreographer turned director, Remo D’Souza is back with the second edition of the film. This one is bigger and better with stars like Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Dhawan shaking their booty in India’s first dance franchise.

Which upcoming movie you are looking big time at?

The film will release on 29th May.

ABCD 2

Remo D'Souza's 2013 dance film, ABCD, will have its sequel this year. The third installment of Farhan Akhtar's successful franchise, Don 3 will also have Shah Rukh Khan in the title role.

Don't get puzzled; Devil will be the sequel to Sajid Nadiadwala's 2014 box-office blockbuster, Kick. Salman Khan will play the male lead in this one also.

OMG – Oh My God 2

While Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal played the key roles in the 2012 satirical comedy, the duo will be co-producing its sequel.
