Rowdy Rathore Backend: The shooting of  Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha's "Rowdy Rathore" in Karnataka's temple town of Hampi was disrupted after activists said the minimum number of local dancers had not been used. 

The unit members of "Rowdy Rathore", directed by Prabhu Deva, had to beat a hasty retreat after a few hours of shooting Monday afternoon following objections by local activists.

A song sequence, featuring Akshay and Sonakshi, along with many dancers, was being shot in Hampi, about 400 km from here, where the mercury has shot up to over 40 degrees.

Despite the gruelling heat, shooting was in brisk progress when some local activists pointed out that the movie's production house, Sanjay Leela Bhansali Films, had not used a minimum of 30 percent of local dancers for shooting the song.

Another reason for stopping filming is that the unit had taken permission to shoot a song sequence from Tuesday to Friday, but had begun Monday itself, said activists.

Venkoba Naik, a local activist and freelance journalist, told IANS from Hampi that the entire film unit had no Kannada technicians and all of them, including the dancers, were brought from Mumbai.

It is stipulated that 30 percent of local artists had to be used for the song shoot in Karnataka.

Naik said he learnt that the archaeological department, looking after the famous Virupaksha Temple and nearby historical places, had given permission for song shoot only from Tuesday.

Senior production manager Champakadhama Babu from the Karnataka Film Workers' Federation said the "Rowdy Rathore" production unit has not used the services of a local production manager from the cine workers organisation.

Akshay Kumar & Sonakshi Sinha promote Rowdy Rathore in Mumbai

"Rowdy Rathore" will be Akshay Kumar's comeback film into the realm of action and he feels that this might be the perfect opportunity.





"I think this is the perfect comeback. What is better than the guy who wanted such a good action film, is not directing 'Rowdy Rathore'. Prabhu has action and more action. His mind is full of action and he choreographs action," he said Saturday, referring to the film's director Prabhu Deva.





Both Akshay Kumar and his co-star Sonakshi Sinha said that they would love to ride auto- rickshaws on the streets of Mumbai. 





At a promotional event, the Rowdy Rathore stars were made to travel in a vehicle next to an auto rickshaw race organised by the team. 





"I was asked to stand in the jeep. Whatever has been told to me I will do. When I was sitting in the jeep I said many times that give me also the auto rickshaw to ride. Maybe the reason was that I don't even have a license to drive an auto. You have to follow the rules,"  Akshay Kumar told reporters.

Talking about the stress "Rowdy Rathore" has put on him, Akshay Kumar optimistically said: "Every actor is worried about his film. A little stress is always there. But if it doesn't work, the next film will come."

Dressed in a purple top and shocking pink jeans, Akshay looked more rowdy than ever. 





"It's not only pink but yellow, red all are Rowdy. When I got these clothes for the first time, I was shocked but then I got used to it. A lot of people like to wear such clothes. This is just a character and I would love to play it," he said. 





Talking about his "Dabangg" co-star, Akshay was full of praise for Sonakshi. 





"Sonakshi is a very simple girl, she works and goes home. She comes on time and goes home. She is very professional. She has never bullied or played pranks on people," he added.

Its time for Akshay Kumar fans to rejoice as Bollywood's original action hero Akshay Kumar would be seen doing some daring action scenes after SEVEN long years in Rowdy Rathore.  

Looks like Bollywood has lost originality as Rowdy Rathore too is a remake of a superhit Telugu film called Vikramarkudu.

Rowdy Rathore is being co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala and Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha would be seen in the lead pair. Action buffs can expect to see Akshay Kumar in a double role in Rowdy Rathore - one as "Faulad ki Aulad' Cop Rowdy (read Vikram) Rathore while the other one being...ahhh ahhh hold on we won't tell you...its too early!
