Is Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth’s magic fading away?

With the negative box office report of Rajinikanth's recent release, Lingaa, we wonder if the actor's magic on his loyal fans and followers is fading away! Since his Kochadaiiyaan, which released before Lingaa, too failed to strike a chord, there's a huge question mark hovering around the superstar's professional future. Will he re-emerge with his next? Will he change his plan of action to get into the groove yet again? Or will we never see Rajini to get up the success ladder again? Only time will tell...

For now, we believe the below two reasons could be possibly behind the south megastar, Rajinikant's sudden downfall.

1. Unnecessary Hype And Hoopla Around LingaaThe moment we got to know that Rajinikanth has joined hands with the ace filmmaker K S Ravikumar for the third time, we couldn't hide our excitement. The film was promoted in a huge way. It was touted to be the biggest hit of 2014. From its plot to its star cast – everything was underlined in bold in the media. That it was set to open in cinema halls on Rajinikanth's 64th birthday on 12th December added more to the entire buzz around the film.

But when Lingaa finally released, it fell short of living up to the expectations of the ardent fans who had high hopes from it. The film had a miserable fate at the silver screen. It couldn't deliver what it promised. Amid the lack of a power-packed storyline, even the presence of Rajinikanth couldn't save Lingaa.

Probably, through Lingaa, the makers and the superstar himself wanted to recreate the aura of Rajini that the actor enjoyed, especially during the 90s. That's precisely why the film was mostly laced with moments and sequences that reminded us of Rajini-sm. But sadly for the superstar, the viewers have matured now, and want the meat, not the bones.

2. It's Time Rajinikanth Should Realise He Doesn't Look Like A 30-Year-Old Hero On The Screen! Yes, South film industry worships Rajinikanth for his uniqueness. Fans go crazy to catch a glimpse of their superstar. But the fact that Rajini is aging, which shows on his face very evidently now, probably disturbs the viewers when the actor plays a young hero and romances girls more than half his age. Yes, fans love to leave the logic at home when watching a Rajini flick, but looks like, they refuse to overlook certain things now.

With Lingaa debacle, Rajinikanth must realise that he can still remain the nation's favourite by going gray (we are taking about the hair) and wrinkled on the screen. He need not essay the "young" guy in each project that he does. Bollywood legendary megastar, Amitabh Bachchan, too underwent a similar situation once when he did films like Laal Badshah. But he soon realized the need of the hour, and changed gears before it was too late.

Today, we totally get enraptured when we see a Black or a Paa. Rajini too needs to make the right decision for himself and his devotees. Now!
